How does a Life of Lego begin? Well let me tell you. It can start with a Star Wars set, a Minecraft set, Ninjago, Knights, Friends, or in my case, Aquazone. I was 6 years old, my family was visiting my grandparents and my dad surprised me with this set. It was Lego set number 6155, contained about a hundred pieces and it blew my young mind. I loved building it, taking it apart and rebuilding it. A Lego fan for life was born. As childhood continued I partook of various Lego themes and in 1999 Lego released its first licensed products, Star Wars. For every holiday and birthday in the early 2000s I asked for Star Wars Lego products, anything from podracers to X-Wings.

Even though licensed products were fun to build, my favorite thing to do was design my own creations and worlds. Pictured here are a few of the many random builds I made as a kid. I would build or replicate Star Wars scenes, Mechwarriors, Lord of the Rings scenes, Pirates, or any other random thing that popped into my head. Sometimes while I was brushing my teeth, I'd go and start working on a Lego idea, and my toothbrush would be in my mouth for 20-30 minutes! This lifestyle of building creations went on through grade school.
Fast forward a few years, past high school and college, and I began a new era of Lego - stop-motion filming! My younger brothers had already been doing stop-motion for a while and had built a respectable YouTube page titled CadeKam. While they were in high school and busy with school, sports and dating, I took over their YouTube channel and began my own style of stop-motion Lego films. Using an Iphone camera and a basic editing program, I've learned and grown as I've filmed. It can be taxing on my patience, but it is fun to make my own video. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried to make their own film creation. Some of my more successful Lego films on CadeKam have been Lego Ninja Warrior, Titanfall, and my Lego Body Armor builds (which aren't stop-motion). And even as life gets busier with work, family responsibilities, etc., I find it is always relaxing and enjoyable to sit down and let the creativity flow through Lego creations. Go check out CadeKam sometime, especially if you have any Lego fans in your family. I'll add a few links to some of these videos at the bottom 😀
